I always
thought he carried ladders because he was the ever ready snapper, but
now I know it's in case he falls down a grid ! Anyway, me and the
bony one meet up yet again at Manchester to board our Alitllia 319 to
Milan Malpensa,... it was packed, the BA flight earlier was only
half full so I think that says it all, the service was excellent
and it was bang on time. We were soon in our small but clean hotel
then off on the 5 minute walk to the end of the runway, Guido met us
there with some of his friendly clipper members, a relaxing time was
had by all. There was a little bar in the town that sold awful red
beer but I must admit after three pints it tasted fine, we also had
fun with the menu, as they spoke no English and we no Italian but
after a few "cock a doodle do" impressions the waitress
seemed to get the message, having said that she brought pork, so who
knows?
Sunday
was the open day, and it was great to see a few old mates from the Uk
who turned up for the trip, after a short presentation by the airport
authority we were through security and on the bus, we drove around the
apron stopping for the odd picture, then over the far side for take
off & landing shots, the bus trip was fine but better vantage
spots could & should have been found to increase the photo
opportunities, the fire department were fantastic & gave us a tour
of their station.
The
control tower was next for a visit and they looked after us very well,
they answered all questions and were most helpful, unfortunately,
after this it all came to an abrupt end due to some delegation
arriving, still never mind, it was a great day out and one I recommend
you attend next year.
