Passionate people however weren’t influenced by this fact, that didn’t take part in the usual course of the visits at all, nor in the times of realisation. After having received our access pass by the SEA safety office, we had to pass trough the X-ray-filter for the checking of our suitcases. We went towards Gate B and our group of about 60 people took aboard on the bus nr. 69 of Gate international arrivals to reach our great MD11 Alitalia. We must precise that it was really a pleasant surprise!!
In fact nobody before that day had had
the possibility to know type, company and number of the plane in the programs, except from
Riccardo Mariani and the organiser of the manifestation Giorgio De Salve Ria.
After about an hour and thirty minutes of lessons in the cockpit our group, by the same bus, began a tour in the airports, looking the landing and the take-off of the planes.
At 1 p.m. we had lunch at the international canteen Pedus.
2.30 p.m.: 2° FLIGHT POLICE GROUP. Giorgio De Salve Ria, who works as a pilot on the P68 Observer, and his colleagues Isp.Sup.Pilot Gianni Faggio, Isp.Pil.Edoardo Caprara, Isp.Spec.Alberto Monachesi, explained us in details the assignments of the planes engaged in the services of the police. We were able too see: Helicopter AB47J, that is very rare, Helicopter AB 206 Jet Ranger III, Helicopter A 109 A2, Helicopter AB212, Plane Vulcanair P68 Observer 2, that were all already photographed.
In the afternoon we had the great opportunity to observe from the control tower "radar man’s work" from a height of about 75 metres!! In the ENAV meeting room Roberto Filì, who seemed to be very available, answered at many specific question of our associated. A welcome guest was Gianluigi Bertolotti, Alitalia crew chef and President of the association Flight Friends of Castronno.
